Other specific types of weight loss surgery

Vertical banded gastroplasty :

Surgical staples are used to divide the stomach into 2 portions. The upper portion is small, limiting the space for food. Empty food from upper bag in the lower bag via a small opening. A band is placed around the opening so as not to stretch. The risk of vertical banded gastroplasty, tread wear and breakdown of the baseline. In some cases, the gastric juices may leak into the abdomen or infection or death from complications can occur.

Laparoscopic gastric banding (Lap-Band).

Its  an inflatable band is placed around the upper portion of stomach to make a small pouch and  a narrow passage into the rest of the stomach. This can limits  the food consumption and can creates an earlier feeling of fullness. When the group is in place it can inflate with saline. The band is adjusted over time by increasing or decreasing the amount of saline to adjust the size of the passage. The band is designed for obese people - those who are at least 100 pounds overweight or who are at least twice their ideal weight - which does not lose weight by some other methods include supervised diet and exercise. A common channel remains in which bile and pancreatic digestive juices mix before to entering the colon. Weight loss occurs since most of the nutrients and calories are routed into the colon where they are not absorbed. This type of weight loss surgery procedure is less commonly used than other types of surgery because  there is high risk of malnutrition. There is variation of BPD such as a duodenal switch , which leaves a large part of the stomach intact, including the pyloric valve that can regulates the release of gastric contents into the small intestine. It also keeps a small portion of the duodenum......... read more
